Spring means love and gardening. Seventy-five authors are participating in the Authors in Bloom Giveawy Blog Hop starting today, April 9th to April 18th. Readers have a chance to win, win, win Giveaways-Gardening Tips-recipes by visiting authors o the hop.
First, a gardening tip. For a safe, no-pesticide way to rid your vegetable and flower gardens of pesky aphids? Use a Soapy Water Spray.
Recipe: 1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon of liquid detergent (regular, not extra concentrated type or dish soaps with lemon) in 1 gallon of water.
Spray the underside of leaves (where the insects usually like to hide). Test spray a few leaves or one plant first before you spray the whole garden. Be sure to spray early in the morning so the soapy solution won't burn the plants during the hot parts of the day.
The bonus is that your hands will be germ-free! Compulsively Mr. Darcy would approve!
2. For stopping at this blog and leaving a comment, telling me your favorite spring flower, you have a chance to WIN one copy of my debut novel, Compulsively Mr. Darcy. A signed print copy if US or Canada resident winner, an ebook (through Sourcebooks's site) if international winner. Deadline for this book's giveaway is April 18th, 11:59PM EST.
For extra entry to win, you can follow me on Twitter or Like my Facebook Author Page (Click on the convenient Twitter or FB link to the right). Please mention in comment if you participate in extra entry. Thanks.
What's the book about?
'Benneton's contemporary debut rides the wave of Austen-mania as miscues and misunderstandings threaten to separate Fitzwilliam Darcy, an obsessive-compulsive millionaire, and Dr. Elizabeth Bennet, an infectious disease specialist working in Vietnam. Darcy travels to Da Nang to support wealthy friends who are adopting a trendy Vietnamese baby, but he's driven to distraction by imagined tropical perils and hides in his hotel room. Once he and Elizabeth meet, there is definite chemistry, but their courtship is doomed first by Darcy's shame about his disorder and second by Elizabeth's assumption that he and Charles Bingley are a couple. Worse, Darcy's manipulative Aunt Catherine and her conniving stepdaughter have their own ideas about the shape of his marital future. Die-hard fans of everything Austen will enjoy this update of her classic tale.' (12/15/11)
3. Don't forget to visit the Other Authors in the hop.

My phrase is: Line 42. Aren't we supposed to be happy?

Nina's The Idle of March.

Not!
Dearest gentle readers,
I have not been IDLE this month (yes, I know, my last posting here was 3/1 and now it's 3/30.)
February was such an intense month with my debut novel release and the publicity involved, and my family has been incredibly supportive with my 'absence' as I jaunt around doing the blogtour. However, this past month, March, I've been kept busy playing Florence Nightingale to coughing, sneezing, wheezing children.
Managed some traveling with family (the few days no one was sick) and I did manage to attend two wonderful book release parties hosted by a good friend and a neighbor--so the month wasn't all snuffles and snot. I also managed to meet deadlines with a few short stories and continued to keep writing my current work-in-progress. (It's my sanity--the quiet moments I steal for the words!)
I especially wish to THANK YOU those of you who have contacted me via email (through this website) and let me know how much you enjoyed the book. Your emails have been very muse-inspiring, particularly as I drag myself out of bed every morning at 4AM to steal some quiet time to write. (I'm in a writing class this year and we all are committed to write 1000 word a day, no matter what. I'm scared to death of my teacher, btw, but that's another blog post some day in the future.)
Your grateful author.
Nina Benneton.
PS: I'm working to update the Reviews section. Besides many others, just received a 4 1/2 stars review from Hope Chest Reviews yesterday!
Reviews, Root Canal and Pygmy: LASR Author Interview & Winners
Thursday, March 1, 2012
Written by Nina Benneton
Today, 3/1 I talk about Root canal and Pygmy and my inspiration to write in an author interview at LASR.
I promise you, it's a very serious interview and not irreverent at all. Stop over and leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of the book. Print and ebook. Open worldwide.
Compulsively Mr. Darcy received a Five Star review from Austenesque this week, and 'I didn’t want to put this book down, reading 300 pages in one day and only stopping because I had to go to work in the morning' review from Diary of an Eccentric.
Congratulatins to winners from SOS Aloha who left comments: Chelsea B won a print book and Ann-Alba won the ebook!
There are winners expected today at a few of the my previous stops. Will update as soon as I know.
A special THANK YOU to readers who contact me via my contact page here to tell me how much they enjoyed the book and how it had touched their heart and how they are already rereading it for more laughs. (Listen, if you wear out the print copy, you can always buy another one, okay?)
